Why does Owala say not to?

Owala's FAQ warns: "Hot, carbonated, and perishable liquids and other contents may build up pressure within the bottle and unexpectedly leak or spray out. Pressurized contents also may cause the spout cover to open rapidly enough to injure fingers positioned in or near the recess behind the spout cover. Always open with caution." (Owala FAQ).

Which Owala is made for coffee?

The SmoothSip Slider. Owala markets it as "Hot or cold" (Owala). The 12 oz's Amazon listing says "hot for 6 hours and cold for up to 24 hours" (Amazon listing). See SmoothSip vs FreeSip.
